Samsung NX20 Camera is among World’s first Wi-Fi enabled compact system cameras which doesn’t seek any additional cards/devices support for wireless connection. The camera is a mini DSLR prototype, equipped with numerous remarkable imaging features and is targeted to experienced shutterbugs.

This is one of the most interesting part of this camera that it lies somewhere between a point-and-shoot camera and a DSLR. While you can find smartphones giving equivalent camera as point-and-shoot category, the latter DSLR category is a kind of mature part of the market.

That’s why companies like Panasonic, Sony, Samsung and Olympus are coming with concept of Micro Four Thirds standard that will give them brilliant image quality in the cheaper price tags.

The new compact Samsung NX20 Camera is also a mirrorless camera supporting a large APS-C CMOS Sensorof 20.3 million pixels in a small body. While it works on similar pixel sensor as NX200, NX210 and NX1000, the new camera comes with more mini-DLR like shape in comparison to previous models.

The solid and robust construction of the camera is designed with hard and textured materials which doesn’t look classy from any angle. The dimensions of 122 x 89.6 x 39.5mm definitely don’t define it as a small camera and its weight of 1.4kg is certainly not lighter either.

There’s an SVGA 1.44k resolution electronic viewfinder which is one of the most noticeable thing. The viewfinder supports 800 x 600 pixel display resolution and offers 100 percent coverage allowing you to see the whole picture in the frame.

The camera also comes with an alternative to viewfinder through its 3 inch clear AMOLED Screen. The LCD supports 921,000 dots resolution on its Swivel display which features easier view even in bright sunlight and also offers quicker refresh rate than traditional LCD screens, low power consumption and 10000:1 contrast ratio.

On the Camera fascia, there’s a small focus-assistant and self-timer indicator lamp, rubberized hand-grip, a metal lens mount and relatively new button for Depth of field preview. At the bottom of the camera, there’s battery compartment which is covered by plastic lockable cover. Along with that there’s a metal tripod mount which is aligned excellently with the lens mount center.

The weight of the camera is due to inclusion of metal mounted 18-55mm OIS III kit lens which gives it the exact look of a DSLR. The new 18-55mm lens kit comes with Samsung standard i-function button which allows you to choose from five available settings of Shutter speed, exposure compensation, ISO, White balance and Aperture.

Samsung NX20 Camera is integrated with Optical Image Stabilizations which allows user customization by turning it on and off. When anti-shake mode is turned on, the camera assists in compensating the camera shake which might occur during slower shutter speed operations and camera is hand held.

The anti-shake (OIS) mode when turned on works automatically without making you to realize much of the difference in the final output. And thankfully, the Anti-shake mode doesn’t consume much of the battery and can give approx. 350 shots before the battery dies.
