Nintendo 3DS XL Gaming Console Review

Nintendo has lately launched a bigger version of their 3DS gaming console which hasn’t come as a surprise to most of the game aficionados. If you have thought Wii U was one big gaming console from Nintendo Stable, then get ready to see the unleashing of XL version of 3DS console with the screen almost 90 percent bigger than what its predecessor had.

Design

3DS XL gaming console is going to much bigger with over 2 cm longer structure than its brother 3DS but with similar thickness. The console measures 156mm x 93mm x 22mm but despite its greater width, it doesn’t appear bulkier or thick.

The chunky plastic in a rounded appearance defines this new gaming console which looks much inspired from theupcoming Wii U console. But disappointingly, the console has been missed out with second analogue stick which means for playing with two control sticks, you’ll have to depend on stick pad.

The gaming console is expected to be available in three dual hue combinations including Red & Black, Silver & Black and Blue & Black. This 336g device doesn’t come in single white color to match Nintendo Home Consoleswith their handhelds.

Screen

The very first thing you will notice in the new gaming console is its bigger screen size. While the 3DS versionoffered 3.02 inch top screen, this console measures 4.88 inches diagonally on the upper display; almost similar to what Sony PlayStation Vita offers.

Disappointingly, no increase in the screen resolution has been made. So there are chances that you find the display slightly blocky or with lesser details available while playing your favorite game.

For all those who are bit anxious about knowing the 3D effect on the bigger screen, there’ a good news. The bigger screen hasn’t been compromised over the 3D effect and gamers can enjoy fluent 3 Dimensional experience with the XL Version of 3DS console.

Battery & Charging

Nintendo has worked harder to provide gamers with enhanced experience and that’s why 3DS XL gaming consolecan reckon between 3.5 hours to 6 hours of 3DS gaming. With old DS games, it can work between 6 to 10 hours.

On testing, it was found that together with maximum brightness, 3D effect and Wi-Fi usage, the console enables 3 hours of continuous gaming.

There’s no power cable or AC adaptor available in the package and the user would have to buy a separate power cable while buying XL 3DS console.

Memory

Nintendo 3DS XL gaming console comes with 4GB SD Card which allows downloading and storing your thousands of games from Nintendo eShop.
