Acer Timeline Ultra M5 Review

Acer continues to wow the Tech aficionados across the globe. This time it’s Acer Timeline Ultra M5 which not only launched to win the wows from you, but to stay in path of launching the mainstream laptops. Acer Timeline Ultra M5is available in three different models – M5-481T-6670, M5-481tG-6814 and M5-581TG-6666.  All these three models are specifically designed to be made available in USA.

Display & Build

Acer Timeline Ultra M5 laptop is an enhanced version of its predecessor not only in specifications but also in terms of look. The most visible features in this regard is brushed metal cover of the LCD – experience the pleasant frontage around the keyboard once you open the lid.

The thin bezel holds its 14 inch screen which delivers crispier and high definition content through its 1366 x 768 pixels resolution. The bezel is thin and finished in rubberized coating which gives metallic look to the prototype.

Unlike Ultra-books, the Timeline Ultra M5 appears slightly bulkier than ultra-books available in the market. Thetwo models which comes with 14 inch screens weight 1.95kgs while the highest model with 15 inch screenweights approx. 2.2kgs.

Performance

When NVidia first launched their Kepler GPU, they paired mid-range GT 640M graphics card and Sandy Bridge Processor together. This time, Acer has combined NVidia Kepler GPU with 3^rd Generation Intel Ivy Bridge processor.

In the mid-range model, Intel core i5-3317U processor is instilled on Intel HM77 Chipset which clocks as high as2.6GHz. Accompanying along that is NVidia GPU with dedicated 1GB GDDR5 memory which clocks at 500MHz to provide high definition gaming and display experience.

Acer Timeline Ultra M5 laptops are instilled with one of the most widely used Windows OS – Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.

Talking about the battery performance, all the three models are incorporated with 3 cell battery which can last up to 8 hours in one full battery charge.

Connectivity

Since the structuring of all three models under Timeline Ultra M5 series is similar, the ports and interfaces included are also alike. In the 14 inch models, there are two USB 3.0 ports, 1 HDMI port, 1 Mic/Headphone combo and an AC Power interface.

In the higher model, there’s an additional USB 2.0 port and Ethernet Interface.

For internet connectivity, the laptop allows Wi-Fi connectivity through 802.11b/g/n port and additional Gigabit Ethernet port in the higher model. For wireless transfer of data, you can make use of Bluetooth v4.0 + high speedfor speedy transference.

For transferring data from external memory card, you can bung in the data card in its SD/MMC Card reader slot.

Multimedia

Acer Timeline Ultra M5 laptop comes with 1.3 MP HD webcam integrated on the front panel of the laptop. Enjoy some nice video calling sessions with your near ones through the front snapper which provides decent video quality.

For ensuring bass quality sound, the laptop is bestowed with Dolby Audio and Acer Clear-Fi technology which provides you crisp and high definition audio quality.
