Canon Telephoto Zoom EF 75-300mm Review
Canon Telephoto EF 75-300mm is a reasonably light, compact and affordable DSLR Lens which can serve the purpose of telephoto shoot. If you are a serious photographer who love capturing sports, wildlife, portraits or nature images, then this super light lens is surely designed for you.
Build
Canon hasn’t concentrated much on the design and has given it a traditional black look in mediocre construction. You can its lightness an advantage but when it comes to zoom or focusing, the ring on the lens seem so smooth that it becomes bugging at times to operate it.
Exteriorly, the lens is given a silky finish which gives it a classy touch. The zoom ring is a rubber covering which is comparatively improved and finer than its brother, providing easier grip along with high quality look.
Optically, it is 13 elements in 9 groups construction which offers the aperture range of f/4 to f/5.6. The presence ofUltra-low dispersion elements delivers highly sharp images with minimum chromatic aberration throughout this long focal length range.

Canon Telephoto EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM lens offers wide open at all focal lengths but as we move from 70mm to 300 mm, the lens starts losing its sharpness. Though Corners are sharper at 300 as compared to what we see at 70mm.
The lens is a 7 blade aperture construction which makes sure that you are delivered with perfect images with isolated foreground. Just make some desired settings with your focus ring to set an appropriate aperture and you can add a bokeh effect to your images.
The telephoto zoom as it is called refers to its wide focal length which is specially designed to match your needs of capturing distance shots. The focal length of the lens range from 75mm to 300mm which allows capturing your favorite sports star playing in the ground or catching the natural action of an animal in a jungle; everything seems to close and easy to capture.
The lens is equipped with improved zoom mechanism with silver on front. The lens allows approx. 4.9 foot close focus distance while you zoom at the max with the lens. Expect some real close action with the lens, even by sitting at a viable distance.
The Micro Ultra Sonic Monitor (USM) makes sure that you capture shots in silent and swifter mode. Just capture the images without letting the subject know that you are taking the shot and the superfast processor will allow quicker preview of your image.
Pros & Cons
Pros- The lens is a light weight construction which weighs 480 g and comes in the dimension of 71 x 122mm which makes it highly compact. Majority of the telephoto lens available in the markets are heavy and bulky; this is one advantage with this telephoto which makes it highly portable.
Cons – The image result from the camera is soft and image quality looks cheap to some extent. Also its cheap build make it highly vulnerable to wear and tear while travelling.
