Google Nexus 7 takes on the Amazon Kindle Fire and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 – Which one should you buy?
With the flooding of tablets in market, we can call this time the era of tablets where we see every newly announced slate possessing something different from others or from its previous version. After Google Nexus 7 announcement, the high end slates are facing a tough competition and the consumers getting confused in finding the best tablet for them.
A tablet definitely grabs attention of the techno geeks but when it comes to choosing one, the good and bad of configuration makes it too difficult to choose. What actually suit your requirements – A quad core processor, the updated OS, high definition display, Screen size, or its Camera? Here we are presenting to you the comparison between three most demanded tablets at present – Google Nexus 7, Amazon Kindle Fire and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.
Operating system
All three Tablets are equipped with Google Android but all three with different versions. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet is incorporated with Google Android (v4.0) Ice Cream Sandwich while Amazon Kindle Fire comes with oldest out of three Android v2.3.4 (Gingerbread). Google Nexus is far more ahead of them with latest Android Version 4.1 – Jelly Bean.
Display & Resolution
When it comes to display, Google Nexus is the winner again as it comes with highest display resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels on its 7 inch IPS LCD display. Amazon Kindle Fire comes with similar resolution to Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 with the screen resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. Not to forget to mention, that Amazon’s slate is a TFT display.
Processor
Google Nexus 7 is packed with Quad Core 1.3 GHz NVidia Tegra 3 processor while Amazon Kindle fire comes with Dual Core Cortex A-9 processor with clocking speed of 1GHz. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 version is also fitted with Dual Core Cortex A-9 processor, fitted on the similar chipset as in Amazon tablet.
Storage/Capacity & Card Slot
Google Nexus 7 tablet comes with 8GB and 16GB options while Samsung Galaxy along with these two, also offers 32GB option. The Amazon Kindle Fire is on the lower side in terms of internal memory – offers only 8GB option. Out of all three.
Memory/RAM
Moving on to RAM, Amazon Kindle Fire comes with 512MB RAM which can’t be considered extraordinary especially when it comes to mobile computing as the users have to use so many applications on their slate in one go. Both Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and Google Nexus 7 offer 1GB RAM to the users making it comparatively sufficient for a tablet smooth working.
Camera
Google Nexus 7 tablet offers 1.2 MP front facing camera which makes it easy for good quality video chats. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is a winner in this category as it comes with both rear (3.2 MP) camera for clicking images and front (VGA) camera for video calls. Disappointingly, Amazon Kindle Fire doesn’t come with any camera.
Ports/Connectivity
For data transfer, all the three tablets come with MicroUSB port, with an additional On-the-go support in Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet. Samsung tablet allows connectivity through Bluetooth and Infrared but Amazon’s Slate doesn’t support any of the two data transferring technologies. Google Tablet supports only Bluetooth connectivity.
All the three tablets allow network connectivity through Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n port.
Battery
When it comes to battery and usage, Amazon Kindle fire is the winner as it comes with 4400mAh Lithium Ion battery; Google Nexus 7 comes with 4325 mAh battery and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet is equipped with Li-Ion 4000 mAh battery.
