Olympus OM-D E-M5 16 MP Compact Camera Review

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Compact Camera Review

Olympus OM-D EM5 Camera is a compact mirrorless camera which is considered to be the first camera belonging to OM-digital lineup of Olympus. From past few years, the imaging industry has been looking forward to deliver photographers with more capable device than a point-and-shoot camera and lesser bulkier than a DSLR; so they come up with Micro four third compact camera and the new camera from Olympus is also a Micro four-third concept.

Design
The new compact camera is a small, well-designed construction especially designed keeping in mind the needs of enthusiasts. The camera comes in solid customizable construction which accounts for its durability.
Olympus has given a retro touch to its new camera which has been mostly inspired from their OM system from 70s and 80s. Though, there are lots of up gradation including LCD and navigation buttons, the theme remains similar to the older manual DSLRs from 3 decades ago.
Adding to its beauty is the silver and black combination form, which makes it one of the best looking cameras of the recent times.
Moving on to its gripping which is one of the important factors in camera, the new Olympus OM-D EM5 cameracomes with small yet sculpting construction which ensures comfortable grip for the photographers; though it’s not easy to go ahead with one hand operation.
At the front, the camera comes with different texture and on the back, the buttons are placed quite safely from a hand grip. The structure of the camera is made waterproof which can handle all weather conditions easily;
so when it’s raining heavily, you can use your imaging device but don’t consider it for capturing under water shots as it can’t handle snorkeling.

Features
Olympus OM-D EM5 Camera comes with 16MP four thirds sensor which is quite similar to what is there in Panasonic’s DMC-G3. The sensor in combination with Olympus’ newest TruePic VI Processor lets you do magic with your clicks and bring appealing image output.
The boost in dynamic range of the camera allows lower noise level in the images which in combination with newer sensor and enhanced processing give ultimate image performance.
New Olympus OM-D 5 camera comes with totally customizable and easy to use controls. There are two blank dials on the top on the camera which can be preset for different functions, in any number, ranging from exposure compensation to shutter speed.
The retro looking camera is equipped with 800×600 pixels electronic viewfinder and just below that a tiltingtouchscreen which acts as your optical viewfinder. Both EVF and Optical Viewfinder offers high frame rate, high contrast and also supports OLED resolution.
The EVF is quite speedy which can activate in just fraction of seconds. The touchscreen is quite responsive as well and its tilting features it at times quite handy. You can capture images easily but just tapping the screen and the place where you tapped becomes the focus point for that image.
The photographers can also count on its reworked Image Stabilization system built inside the camera. The new improved system undertakes 5 axial movements which include 2 translational movements in vertical and horizontal direction and rational movement in 3 different axes; different from previous system which only considered right/left and up/down rotation.
With improved translational movements, you can get better macro shots at high Magnifications just like what you get in Canon’s ‘Hybrid IS’. The system also works during video shooting.

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Compact Camera Price in India – Rs. 69,000/-
