Lenovo Thinkpad X230 Notebook Review
It looks like Ultrabooks are becoming rage these days as people seek to carry all their work with them whenever they are on the go; but when it comes to portability and durability ultra-sleekness of these notebooks give up. Raising a bar against these durability measures, Lenovo has brought in a new sturdy Notebook extending its product line of X200 Series.
Lenovo Thinkpad X230 Notebook comprises 11.6 inch screen and is the first of its types to introduce the combination of Ivy Bridge CPU with a unique designed Precision Chiclet keyboard.
Appearance
The new Lenovo notebook is inspired from a classic ThinkPad design which comes with square shaped framework in soft finish in black color. The chassis is a magnesium alloy construction which is specifically meant to handle the bumps and damages of your outdoor handling.
The Lenovo has given a unique keyboard design to this keyboard which is terminologically called Island-style keyboard. This backlit keyboard is ideally meant for comfortable typing and is claimed by Lenovo to be made spill resistant.
The touchpad on the keyboard is small which might make little difficult to do some tasks. The notebook is also integrated with fingerprint reader which provides higher security of the data which is a ‘must have’ for those who are carrying it to places for work.
Its bulkier construction makes it little heavy than other 13 inch competitors, with the weight of 1.5kgs. The laptop features 11.5 inch display which comes with High definition resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels to deliver reasonably good display.
Performance
Lenovo ThinkPad X230 is packed with Third generation Intel Core i5 3320M processor which clocks at 2.6GHz. Accompanying that is standard 4GB RAM and integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics unit which offers remarkable performance.
The laptop comes with 320GB HDD which accelerates at 7200 RPM level that runs with Windows 7 Professional OS and can reboot in mere 37 seconds which is generally 50 seconds in other ultrabooks.
Expect some extraordinary graphics performance through its graphics unit. The laptop works well with 3D gamesas the laptop scores quite well on 3D mark06 graphics benchmark.
Battery
The included battery in laptop is a 6 cell battery which can provide the working usage of almost 7 hours. Disappointingly, its previous model X220 had better battery performance that could last more than 7 hours.
The laptop is also offered optional battery slice which Lenovo claims to provide 24 hours backup.
Connectivity
Lenovo Thinkpad X230 Notebook comes with two USB 3.0 ports, a VGA out, mini display port, wireless switch andExpressCard 54mm on the left side of the laptop.
On the right side, you’ll find 4-in-1 SD card reader, USB 2.0 port which is charge and sleep enabled, 3.5mm audio jack, Kensington lock and Gigabit RJ-45 port.
