Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT Flash Review

Along with introduction of Canon EOS Mark III DSLR camera, Canon made its first launch in the professional Speedlite market with Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT Flash. The ‘speedlite’ flash is compatible with all EOS DSLR Cameras and works on Canon’s optical-based wireless E-TTL technology.

Canon Speedlite 600XT Flash is a professional flash with built-in wireless radio transmitter which eliminates the necessity for radio slave units for its handling. This feature of the flash makes it highly suitable for Wedding photography especially portraits and photojournalism needs.

The Flash has been restructured with metal hot shoe with improved ‘body strength’ prototype which offers resistance against dust and water complexities. The weather resistant construction is instilled with gelatin filters to help meeting ambient light needs.

The metal shoe connection in the Speedlite flash helps communicating white balance settings to the camera. Speedlite 600XT Flash comes with color filter holder with two orange color filters to offer multiple creativity options for further balancing flash and lighting situations. The flash is compatible with Canon and other third party gelatin filters.

For shooting in dim lights or darker situations, the photographers can make use of AF-Assist beam that give precise Autofocus settings. AF-Assist Beam compatibility in combination with 28mm or longer lenses, bring out the most sharpest and focused subjects against the flash fire.

The Speedlite flash is a multiple flash system that works on radio wave communication technology which ensures accurate control over five groups of flashes. The flash supports all latest versions of TTL including Evaluative E-TTL II which ensures shooting of reflective subjects and high contrast objects with coverage of each minute detail.

Canon Speedlite Flash comes with “Master Slave two-way transmission” technology which enables photographer to control flash settings directly from the attached camera. The E-TTL is a radio-based wireless technology which makes it usable up to 30metres at off-camera position. The wide head zoom range offered by Speedlite varies from 20mm – 200mm.

The Flash is extremely light weight, with just 425 gms which makes it portable and accommodative for your on-the-go needs. Make use of its 18 custom and 7 personal functions for adding some creativity to your photographic skills.
