KNAPPA from Ikea – World’s Cheapest Camera made of Cardboard

Ikea KNAPPA 2.3 MP Cardboard Camera

Furniture Giant IKEA brought a unique concept to imaging world by giving the world of photographer a distinguished camera. The company launched a new camera which is designed in a cardboard construction to offer disposable camera concept to the users.
Not much details of the camera are stormed in the initial release but the only uniqueness lies in its cardboard construction. The camera is expected to be called KNÄPPA and has been publicized as “the world’s cheapest digital camera” by the company.
Ikea Cardboard Camera is a digital camera which works similar to your ordinary digital camera but comes in quite cheaper construction. The environment friendly construction of the camera is quite different concept but users should not expect durability out of this structure as it is purely a cardboard construction.
Camera Assembly
The design of the camera has been structured in collaboration with Stockholm’s Teenage Engineering. It is supposed to be made up of a single piece folded cardboard as a single circuit board with a camera sensor and USB connector integrated on the board.
The thick cardboard construction on the PCB plastic is incorporated with two buttons on the front. One button is to be used for turning on/off & taking photos while a small button to delete the pictures.
Then there’s a small LED light indicator and a small vinyl and bolts which are the main support of keeping the camera structure together. On the side of the structure, you’ll find a USB connector.
Ikea Cardboard Camera can store maximum of 40 images at one go in its built in memory and has been instilled with a USB port which allows you to transfer the images to your PC. Once the inbuilt memory is filled with image limit, you’ll have to wipe out the memory to again start clicking and storing.
The Camera is powered by two AA sized batteries which are to be changed or replaced by unbolting the white screws placed at the corner of the Camera. Of course, this camera only supports Ikea batteries.
The camera is not designed to face the wear and tear of your regular imaging maneuvers but it has been engineered in a well-designed construction which appears not less than a branded camera.
